Hi. This is a quick note to disclose an error in the previous post of a unique level of embarrassment. Turns out I’d spent an entire essay misidentifying The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as Late Night with Stephen Colbert, a problem considering Late Night comes on after The Late Show, is on NBC, and is hosted by Seth Meyers.
Mistakes were made! Or rather, mistakes were made, committed to digitization, and then not noticed for a full-ass 24 hours. It is fixed in the browser version but I’m guessing it lives eternal with all my lesser errors in the accursed email. The best I can say is that it was the result of some minor version of the Mandela Effect as no one else seemed to notice.
Even so, that was pretty avoidable! Be assured that I regret it deeply and am sufficiently ashamed. Not so much because it compromises my pretensions to authority or otherwise makes me look incompetent. Authority and competence are always in flux in The Circus of Unnecessary Surgery, and I think it’s part of the thrill in subscribing to this newsletter. No, reader, it is worse. It brings me that much closer to the people I dislike for vague and snobbish reasons and the flagrant errors of theirs I take so much pleasure in relishing.
Loser City has a new resident! At least the rent is cheap?
